super change of idea

hmmm, before i mentioned about the changes i wanted to undertake for my interpretation.

well, ive stuck to my idea of the large 'covering' over the facade of the museum. the covering will be made of glass so it reflects the structure and concept of the building. i.e. the use of natural light from the glass covering to light up the interior of the museum.

the second change i wanted to undertake was the ramps. at first i made sketches of a new ramp system. however, while modelling, i decided to place an elevator instead. this elevator is cased in glass so that, as the same concept as the ramp, the viewers are able to observe the surrounding interior within the elevator. also, this also makes the museum a whole lot larger and spacy. which promotes circulation. the use of elevators also means more light into the museum and therefore, a better effect in lighting down the walls through the glass roofing.

=) that will be all.

redesigning the silkeborg *another 250 words

after analysing the silkeborg museum and Utzon's style of architecture, i have decided to tweak a little. this is in respect to the architect's initial design as well as providing my own interpretation of the building.
i have taken the idea of 'subtle' as one of the focuses in my redesigning of the museum. through using this word as a basis, i think i will blend the building further into its environment surroundings and provide a more naturalistic facade. i guess the appraoch i will do this is sinking the museum a little more into the ground, this will also show how the internal museum is surrounded by nature (the ground). it will allow me to design a subtle nature design and an entrance that will lead down into the foyer of the museum. in this saying, the museum will be 'hidden' in nature.
the idea of 'continuous' provides me to provide this flowing feel within the museum. there are still some aspects that i feel need to be changed, i.e. the ramp. although the ramp has a nice concept to it, in that it allows the individual to circulate around the floors viewing the artworks, it is somewhat tedious for the individual to come back up and down again after a few times. this ramp also is confusing in that it some parts of the 'intersection' direct the individual somewhere else. so, i feel that i need to tweak the ramp a bit more in order that it provides a free and easy means of travelling throughout the museum as well as maintaining the original concept behind the initial ramp. also, i would like to promote the circulation of the museum in that each space will lead to another and so on, the individual will continuously walk circulate around the museum in one go. this is what i feel i need to do in order to provide a 'flowing' feel within the museum.
at the same time, i want to make this museum 'monumental', i know i said earlier that the museum will be subtle, but i feel that it can be both. so the approach i will take will be something i will have to think about a lot. maybe it might have to do something about the internal space other than the external. and it will be a contrast to monumental buildings as well as most of the time, its monumentality is relied on its facade. so, i will still have to think about how i will achieve this idea.
in conclusion, these ideas of a subtle, continuous and monumental silkeborg museum will i guess provide a new experience for indivduals and provide a different 'feel' to the design of the museum.
